Portomesenteric venous thrombosis (PMVT) or transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt thrombosis (TIPS-T) represents a serious vascular complication that can lead to (recurrence of) portal hypertension, mesenteric ischemia, variceal bleeding and hepatic decompensation [1,2]. Prompt, safe and effective recanalization of these occlusions is desirable to restore adequate portal venous flow and mitigate associated morbidity [3].
