Radiology departments are experiencing significant pressure from persistently increasing imaging volumes, rapidly changing technologies, a prolonged national shortage of radiologists, and increasing expectations for shorter imaging report turnaround time. In this context, artificial intelligence (AI) is rapidly changing the field of radiology and can present as a practical solution for workflow optimization, although several new challenges present themselves.
